Transformative impacts of AI and the IoT on healthcare delivery: Methodologies, ethical considerations, and enhancement avenues
Abstract
The healthcare landscape is undergoing rapid transformation propelled by innovative methodologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT). This study delves into their potential profound impacts on healthcare delivery. AI functions akin to a highly proficient assistant, capable of executing tasks reminiscent of those performed by healthcare professionals, albeit with its standout capability lying in the swift analysis of vast datasets. It aids in discerning patients' conditions promptly and comprehensively. On the other hand, IoT revolves around interconnecting devices, ranging from computers to various gadgets, to facilitate seamless data exchange. This interconnectedness fosters enhanced operational efficiency and elevated the standard of patient care for medical practitioners. However, amid the utilization of IoT and AI in healthcare, critical considerations such as confidentiality and equity necessitate vigilant attention. The integration of AI encompass care operations encompasses tasks spanning invoicing, appointment scheduling, patient authentication, and treatment cost estimation. In the intricate tapestry of personalized medicine, AI serves as the guiding hand, supporting physicians in crafting tailored treatment plans that resonate with each patient's unique anatomical and genetic framework. Nonetheless, the deployment of AI and IoT in healthcare introduces ethical dilemmas concerning fairness and confidentiality. Striking a delicate balance between leveraging these captivating technologies and safeguarding individuals' rights emerges as a paramount concern. Ultimately, IoT and AI are catalysing profound transformations within the healthcare sector. This study examines their methodologies, the ethical quandaries they evoke, and the avenues through which they can be harnessed to enhance healthcare accessibility.
